Mauricio Beltrán is a Technician at the General Direction of Budget and Statistics, Junta de Castilla y León.
The aim of this seminar was to introduce the students to the concept of Data Mining and its usefulness in finding underlying structures hidden in databases.
Dr. Beltrán began his presentation with a brief definition of Data Science and Data Mining concepts, as well as a description of their fields of application, and the advantages and disadvantages of using them.
Finally, he taught the students how to use a free software, WEKA, which is a useful tool to get started in Data Mining.
